With the NBA recently voting on expansion for Las Vegas and Seattle franchises, I thought it was time to come up with an updated look for the Seattle SuperSonics if they were to return.
I worked for a realistic modernization of their identity, something that fans of the past franchise and new ones alike would connect with. While I kept the familiar color palette, I tweaked the yellow to be sharper and more electric for a bolder look in the new era.
For design cues, I took local inspiration from the shape of the Space Needle, supersonic air travel and, for the City Edition uniforms, the famous Pike Place public market sign.
